On Sunday, October 16, at the Belosselsky-Belozersky Palace the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra opens its 50th subscriptions season. Under the direction of Peter Feranec will be performed music by Mozart, Schumann and Tchaikovsky. Soloist — Alexei Massarsky, cello.
St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra started rehearsing for the huge project Titanic. Live. On October 18 at the Grand Concert Hall “October” the orchestra will accompany by live music the famous disaster movie by James Cameron. On the conductor’s podium this night will be famous maestro Neil William Thomson from England.
On October 7 at the Philharmonic Hall the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra under maestro Walter Proost will perform well-known tunes from Hollywood movies. The program will be followed by a synchronized video installation — shots from the films.
September 20th at the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra opens its 50th season. Under the baton of Arkady Steinlucht the orchestra will perform works of the winners of X All-Russian Composers Competition named after Andrey Petrov.
October 29 and 30 the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra will be a partner of the St. Petersburg Ballet Theater named after Leonid Yakobson. On the stage of Bolshoi Drama Theater Orchestra will take part at the premiere performances of Sleeping Beauty ballet on music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, staged by renowned French choreographer, dancer and teacher Jean-Guillaume Bara. Conductor of the production — Valery Ovsyannikov.
In the First studio of the St. Petersburg Radio House is completed recording of the new CD of outstanding Russian singer Dmitry Hvorostovsky. The St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of renowned conductor Constantine Orbelian, has accompanied famous musician with the vocal compositions of George Sviridov.

St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra traditionally closes the season at the festival “Night of Music in Gatchina.” On the stage mounted on White Lake of Imperial park Orchestra will perform a varied program of works by Tchaikovsky, Coleman, Gliere, Rachmaninoff and Pakhmutova under the baton of Peter Feranec. Soloists will be Moscow musicians Nazar Kozhukhar (violin) and Vladislav Lavrik (trumpet).
SPSSO continues cooperation with the remarkable Russian singer Dmitry Khvorostovsky. On December 18, the orchestra will participate in a next concert of the Khvorostovsky and Friends cycle on the stage of the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall, and for mid-July, a joint effort is scheduled to record Georgiy Sviridov’s works on CD.
The date of the festive concert for the 50th anniversary of the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra has been scheduled: it will be played in the Grand Hall of the Philharmonic on April 27, 2017.
